Help Us RAISE The Roof On House #4
Each year, Flagler Habitat for Humanity changes lives in our community by building three homes for families in need of safe, affordable housing. This year, we’re determined to do even more: Our goal is to build a fourth home & give one more family the foundation for a brighter future.
Meet Crystal, one of our 2025 homeowners whose story reminds us why this work matters.
A Yellow House Dream Come True
I’m Crystal, a single mother to my 13-year-old daughter.
Before this opportunity to own our own home, our life was one of hardships and struggles. We moved often, chasing affordability, but never finding real stability. Our living situations were temporary, cramped, and had no functionality for our needs. I worked hard to make ends meet, but the constant uncertainty made it hard not to give up.
Then, everything changed when we were accepted into the Habitat for Humanity program.
This home—our home—means more than walls and a roof. It’s security. It’s stability. It’s peace of mind. The day we found out we were getting a Habitat home, I felt like years of stress were lifted off my shoulders.
For as long as I can remember, my dream was to own a yellow house.
The color represents hope to me. And now, standing in front of this beautiful yellow home, it feels like a dream come true.
For my daughter, this home has been life-changing too. She finally has her own space — a place to study, to grow, to just be a teenager. She is close to school, activities, and her friends. And even more importantly, she’s building community, creating friendships that won’t be uprooted by another move.
This home has become a foundation for both of us—not just a place to live, but a place to thrive. Flagler Habitat for Humanity is more than just a builder of homes. They’re builders of hope, dignity, and second chances. We’re forever grateful to be one of the families given this opportunity.
Thank you for believing in families like mine. And thank you for making my yellow house dream come true.
Crystal’s story is just one of many, and it’s a powerful reminder of why Flagler Habitat’s mission matters in our community.
